Department Overview: Led by the renowned pioneer in joint reconstruction----Prof. and Consultant Wu Yaoping, the team focuses in the treatment of various joint diseases, as well as musculoligamentous   /tendon/cartilage injury around the 6 major joints in the body(shoulder/elbow/wrist/hip/knee/ankle). The team has accumulated extensive experience in challenging hip/knee/shoulder/elbow reconstruction cases, such as one-stage 4-joint replacements and release surgery for "folded" man, revisional joint replacement for prosthetic infections and aseptic loosening. Osteotomy is also a common procedure for mid-stage joint damage in active individuals. The team also provides minimal invasive surgery of Arthroscopy in cartilage repair, ligamentous and tendon repair/reconstruction, and intraarticular benign tumor resection, etc. related to shoulder/elbow/wrist/hip/knee/ankle.  

Clinical Scope:

1. Non-surgical treatment of various joint diseases, as well as musculoligamentous/tendon/cartilage primary problems and secondary injuries around the joints.

2. Surgery:

1) Adult joint reconstruction: Primary and revisional joint arthroplasty including hip, knee, and shoulder replacements for degenerative joint diseases, traumatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, developmental hip dysplasia, femoral head avascular necrosis, chronic suppurative arthritis, Kashin-Beck disease, and spontaneous osteonecrosis.

The team has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating periprosthetic infections and prosthetic loosening, successfully performing challeging surgeries such as spacer implantation and joint revisional surgeries. Advanced disease diagnosis and treatment concepts, scientific and comprehensive treatment processes, mature and standardized surgical techniques, and immediate postoperative rehabilitation ensure excellent postoperative joint function recovery.

2) Sports Medicine:

Degenerative knee diseases: High Tibial Osteotomy(HTO) and Distal Femoral Osteotomy(DFO), Unicondylar replacement of knee.
