Diagnosis & Treatment Features:

The division is equipped with such precise techniques as conformal intensity-modulated precision radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), image-guided intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IGRT), and adaptive radiotherapy (ART) for nasopharyngeal cancer, head and neck cancers, and cancers of other organs (laryngeal, tongue, tonsil, hypopharyngeal, and parotid gland cancers). Also, the division is configured with an Optical Surface Management System (OSMS), an eye shield to reduce radiation exposure to the lens during eye electron beam irradiation, and a world-leading 3D printing technique for tissue compensators.

In the Center, radiotherapy is well combined with surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and best supportive care, and a multidisciplinary team is set up to comprise otorhinolaryngologists, head and neck surgeons, radiologists, speech therapists, rehabilitation therapists, dietitians and medical social workers, in order to achieve the best therapeutic effect. You don't have to worry about which department to register. No matter which department you visit, you can get the best comprehensive therapy because all departments are associated with the multidisciplinary team.

The advisors include Prof. Anne Lee, Prof. Wai-Tong Ng, Prof. L.W. KWONG, and Consultant H.F. LEE, all from HKU. Academic leaders Prof. Anne Lee and Prof. Wai-Tong Ng are world-renowned experts in radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal cancer and head and neck cancer; besides, they are authors of theInternational Guideline for the Delineation of the Clinical Target Volumes (CTV) for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma and the International Guideline on Dose Prioritization and Acceptance Criteria in Radiation Therapy Planning for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma.

Physicians engaged in the clinical chemoradiotherapy for nasopharyngeal cancer and head and neck cancer for more than 10 years: Associate Consultant Zhiyuan XU, Associate Consultant Jishi LI (Monday and Wednesday), and Senior Physician Lin Shen (Tuesday and Thursday). Main visiting physicians of the Division of Head and Neck Surgery: Associate Consultant Ping'an Wu (except Wednesday: surgery day) and Senior Physician Zhaoqun Lu (except Wednesday: surgery day).
