Division of Obstetrics
The obstetrics department of the University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital is based on international standards andevidence-based practice, supported by maternal-fetal medicine and a patient-centered service concept. We aim to deliver offer antenatal care from early pregnancy registration, pregnancy health care, safe delivery to postpartum recovery.
In addition to providing antenatal care and delivery services to women who have regular check-up at our hospital, our department also carries out the referral program for high-risk pregnant women locally and outside of Shenzhen, offering diagnostic and therapeutic care.
Our team implements Trial of Labor After Cesarean (TOLAC), External Cephalic Version (ECV), Operative Vaginal Birth, pioneering reduction of Cesarean section rate in Shenzhen. In recent years, our Cesarean rate has been lower than 30%, significantly outperforming the target standard for municipal 3A hospital. In addition, postpartum hemorrhage and neonatal severe asphyxia rates are lower than the early warning indicators of the Shenzhen maternal and child healthcare system. The preterm birth rate is significantly lower than the national level.
Obstetric Critical Care Center
Through our obstetric critical care center, we provide subspecialty level obstetric care and multi-disciplinary management for mothers with various medical and surgical disorders such as gestational diabetes, pregnancy complicated with hypertension, heart disease, or other severe maternal complications, as well as mothers with significant obstetric risk factors.
According to different medical needs, weprovide comprehensive one-stop services. Making full use of the strength of the multi-disciplinary team with cutting-edge technologies and outstanding specialties, we have successfully rescued mothers with severe maternal morbidities, ensuring that mothers with life-threatening and potentially life-threatening conditions receive timely diagnosis and effective treatment.
National-level Training Center for Midwifery Education
Our center stands out from 86 midwifery institutions in the country on the strength of outstanding organization, high-quality medical services, standardized teaching, and advanced regional management. We are among the first batch of national-level midwifery clinical training bases. It marks the professional development of midwives, reaching transition from standardization to specialization, bringing new expectation and motivation to the future of the midwifery profession.
International Medical Center (IMC) - Obstetrics Department
Our IMC teamhas outstanding specialties that can provide more personalized and high-quality medical services for pregnant women of different nationalities, languages, and cultural backgrounds.
The postpartum recovery center is run by our professional medical and nursing team to formulate individualized postpartum care plans according to the different conditions of the mother, providing a safe, scientific and comfortable recuperating environment, allowing mothers to enjoy an integrated model of advanced post-delivery care.
Midwifery Clinic
To promote natural and safe childbirth, our midwives provide expectant mothers with prenatal counseling, delivery planning, and postpartum care. Antenatal classes include childbirth experience camps; weight management & exercise during pregnancy; health monitoring for early detection of problems and early management; identifying early signs of labor and appropriate admission time; precautions during labor and delivery; explanation on childbirth and skin-to-skin contact to promote breastfeeding; proper management of postpartum wounds and personal care; and alleviation of bad mood during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding Consultation Clinic
We provide professional guidance on breastfeeding, supporting promotion of exclusive breastfeeding for expectant mothers, new mothers, and their families in need, including advice on feeding methods for breastfeeding difficulties, assessment of breast milk deficiency, guidance on breastfeeding methods, feeding programs to correct nipple illusion, assessment and management of nipple pain or chapped nipple, assessment of milk stasis and blocked milk duct, health education on breastfeeding knowledge, feeding guidance for poor baby weight gain at full month, and prenatal breastfeeding counseling.
