The Haematology Division

  Led by Professor Patrick Chu from the UK, the division is located in Block C of HKU SZH, with a specialised haematology ward of 44 beds and a Haematoeitic Stem Cell Transplant ( HSCT ) ward of 9 beds, supported by a team of 11 haematology specialist , 27 nurses and 4 laboratory staff for the HSCT.


  Services


  The division offers a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services with special interests in treatment of haematological cancer such as acute and chronic leukaemia, lymphomas, myelodysplastic syndromes ( MDS ), myeloma and aplastic anaemia.  All management protocols are in line with national and international guidelines.

  Regular MDT meetings, and educational seminars are arranged within the division. The division also hosts and attends local and regional educational seminars.

  The HSCT offers a full range of services such as autologous transplant, sibling allogeneic transplant, matched unrelated transplant (through arrangement with China Bone Marrow Registry ) , haplotransplant and cord transplants. Both adult and paediatric transplant services are available.

  Since March 2021, new targeted therapy has been introduced from Hong Kong.  Since September 2021, the division has been approved to become the first in Shenzhen to provide commercial CART therapy.

  Plan has begun to provide HSCT to patients with severe rheumatogical diseases and to provide oral arsenic therapy ( introduced from Hong Kong Queen Mary Hospital ) to patients with acute promyelocytic leukaemia.
