The Hospital has provided social work services since 2017, with three full-time medical social workers carrying out green healthcare and public welfare services. The medical social workers conduct psychosocial assessments in multidisciplinary centers or departments and provide interventions in clinical services. With professional approaches and social resources, they aim to enhance family resilience among patients, patient compliance and patient satisfaction. They offer a variety of services, including mental health counselling, policy consultations, financial aid, doctor-patient communication and resource suggestions.
Kids Caring Corner
Funded by the Shenzhen SME Entrepreneurs Association and Qingwawa Foundation, the Kids Caring Corner was unveiled in December 2017. Medical social workers provide patients at the Pediatrics wards with five categories of services, namely public welfare courses, themed activities, pediatric palliative care, play therapy and medical assistance. It is aimed at building a venue that facilitates medical help to children in need, and combines fun, care and good taste.
Orthopedic Center
The Division of Pediatric Orthopedics has invited the team of medical social workers to provide psychosocial support to patients and their family members since September 2020. The supportive services entail social case work, online consultation, diagnosis and treatment on a voluntary basis, ward-based caring activities, and promotion of public awareness of rare diseases. The social workers has also engaged themselves in various charitable programs initiated by Chongshang Foundation, Fu Tak Iam Foundation, Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation and Sunhope Love Foundation.
Oncology Medical Center
Medical social workers provide holistic care with social and psychological support to cancer patients and their family members. The services encompass adaptation to hospitalization, mental health counselling, policy consultations, financial aid, doctor-patient communication and resource suggestions. The social workers also deliver services catering to the needs of patients receiving hospice and palliative care as well as their families. For the benefits of the medical staff, they have rolled out stress relieving services and training on doctor-patient communication skills.
